The aim of these taster days is to introduce members to various activities for possible future training. It is hoped that many will become fully qualified instructor and find employment in the various fields of work. It is further hoped that they will find them enjoyable experiences. |

Earth, straw, clay and water means mud and lots of dirty hands, are what is needed for Cob Building. Once again, service users spend a day at the beautiful Bishopston site on Gower, Swansea, learning how to build various constructions with mud, known as cob building.Top left: Staff member Neil (centre) with two service users are ready to dig up some soil and clay for mixing with straw and water.Top Right: The group also build a fantastic semi-circl "human" seat with big sculptured hands on either end and a 3D head, called the "Welcome Seat"The materials used are strong and sturdy and the structures will last many years if kept dry.Left middle: It was very warm work on such a hot day, so everyone enjoyed a nice break in the shade, which was very welcomed. Cob building uses a mixture of earth and straw that is mixed together to make walls, houses and ovens to cook in, as seen above and left.Once fully dried, they are long lasting and sustainable. |
