Art classes are run for the benefit of the children while thier parents are in the English Classes.

We also celebrate special occasions throughout the year such as Christmas, Naw Ruz and to put on International Events.

The Unity & Diversity Group also warmly welcomes anyone who wishes to come along to make friends with asylum seekers and refugees or to volunteer their time to help them become more integrated into the community or to help in the kitchen with food or washing up afterwards..

ASYLUM SEEKER'S & REFUGEE'S CHRISTMAS DINNER

On Christmas Eve, when everything else was closing down, the Unity in Diversity Group opened it doors and organiseda full Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings. Nine nationalities and three faiths (Baha'is, Christians & Muslims) sat around the same table united in a spirit of friendship and shared the same food. They feasted on Halal Chicken, boiled & roast potatoes, sprouts & chestnuts, spiced roasted parsnips, carrots, peas and yorkshire puddings, followed by Middle Eastern pastries, gateauz & other delights. Fruits, fruit juices and non alcohol wines were also available. My special thanks to Adele Behbanani & Bill Cook without whose help and hard work the fantastic evening put on for the Asylum Seekers and Refugees would not have been possible.

My thanks to Craig Williams for cooking the chickens and to the managers of Masala Bazaar & Tropicana, both of St. Helen's Road Swansea, for their support and help with the food and sweets.

We also cater for an Eritrean Group during the evenings.

Those attending the English group come from: China - Eritea - Iran - Palestine & Yemen. The mixed group went well with lessons designed specifically for refugees and asylum seekers. Here you can see them using a world map to help explain how and where they came from. This made the English Classes interesting and engaging for those participating. Other one to one classes are also held to help individuals with grammar, hand writing and creating a CV., as well as classes especially for Muslem women..
