MORE ABOUT JENNIE !!

In 1980 I decided to stop travelling, come home and be a normal person !! (Well that didn’t work out) I worked for Boots Chemist and Polaroid Cameras as Area Manager for the South of England for 2 years, but the pull of dancing got the better of me and I packed up and joined a Keep Fit company as Area Manager for the Scottish Regions. I was responsible for training new teachers ,opening new venues, and taking classes.  At this time I also opened my own dancing school in Girvan doing Keep Fit classes and

children's Modern Theatre and Tap.

After 3 years I was asked to join a Dance Studio in Ayr where I worked for 19 years being in charge of the I.S.T.D. Modern Theatre and Tap Section, from Baby to Teacher’s level as well as taking Keep Fit classes for Adults, Mature Keep Fit classes, Adult Tap and Baby to Primary Ballet .Through these years we had many success stories, with students dancing in full time jobs all over the world.  A student of mine, Scott Gillies has been dancing full time since he left Scotland and very successful as head dancer and head Boy for the troupe. He is now currently in a show in Reno, Nevada, USA and still comes to see me every time he comes home.

In August 2004 I opened my own school, and loving every minute of it.

THE 60’S TILLER GIRLS

Some years ago I rejoined the troupe with quite a few of my pals, and we are still performing at charity concerts throughout the UK, which includes a tribute to Russ Conway, shows with the cast from Coronation Street and fashion shows, one with Jenny Powell at Manchester United Football ground plus many others.

In 2002 The Tiller Girls opened the 50 Year Parade at the Queen’s Jubilee  in front of the Queen and the royal family at Buckingham Palace.

On 9th December 2004 The 60’s Tiller Girls were invited to dance for the Royal Family at St James Palace to celebrate the Veterans Christmas Party.

We had a wonderful day and  we were introduced to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, which was very exciting.

In 2005/06 we were busy performing at different charity functions in the London area and Cabaret at the Grovenor House Hotel

The Tillers were invited to dance at a concert in the Greenwich Navel College for the Veterans of the wars, and were also invited with their husbands to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace meeting  the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Jim & I had a wonderful day

This charity work  resulted in an invitation for myself and Jim and the Tillers to attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in 2006 and 2007 to honour British Veterans of previous wars.

Recently the Tillers have featured on the Paul O’Grady Show on Channel 4 where we danced with both Paul and Petula Clark and the Jonas Brothers.

We also have continued to dance at various charity functions throughout the UK and will continue to do so even though we were going to retire!!, Rumours are the Palladium in October 09 so no retiring yet!
