David Richbell is a Civil and Commercial Mediator of over twenty years experience. Originally from a construction background he has mediated cases over numerous sectors both in the UK and several countries overseas. His settlement rate is remarkably high.

For many years David trained mediators in the UK and overseas but now concentrates on raising awareness, particularly in countries where mediation is in its’ infancy, and helping users to make the best of mediation.


He has written two books:

Mediation of Construction Disputes (Blackwells 2008) for users of mediation
How to Master Commercial Mediation (Bloomsbury Professional 2014) for mediators of any or no experience
and wrote two chapters in Mediators on Mediation (Butterworths 2005)


He has also written many papers for users, advisors and practitioners
and case studies for others to use in demonstrations and training sessions.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Mediation), a senior panel member of IPOS Mediation Chambers, member of PIM Senior Mediators, member of BIMA multi-ethnic mediation group, member of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s mediation working group and Trustee of TalkingWorks (schools mediation training charity). He was trained and accredited by CEDR in 1991/2, by Endispute in Boston (1995), Harvard Advanced Mediation Program (1996) and the Regents College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (2010).
