Are you a refugee or asylum seeker? We may be able to help you. We offer free of charge:-
A Drop-in session every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-4pm with interpreters for some languages, where you can find:
Advice, advocacy and support in a safe, welcoming and confidential environment (wheelchair accessible).
Help finding legal advice, education, healthcare, benefits, faith groups, volunteering opportunities
Help with queries with Home Office, Reporting Centre, and Police by fax, letter or phone. Support with form filling, accommodation issues and setting up appointments
Information about leisure and learning opportunities in the city
Basic food, toiletries and some clothing for destitute asylum seekers
English at all levels including culture and English traditions at 2-3pm on Tuesday and Thursday (in term time) for asylum seekers who have been in the country for less than six months or are not eligible for formal education at local colleges
Monthly workshops sometimes leading to certification (e.g. First Aid, HIV Awareness, Child Protection, Risk Assessment, Health & Safety and Creative Writing)
Awareness raising of asylum issues, giving presentations to interested groups
Donations of money, basic foods or toiletries are welcome.
