| After working in the Microbiology Department of Birmingham University, Derek joined the University's Chemical Engineering Department which was involved in the scale up of in vitro techniques for monoclonal antibody production. In 1984, Derek joined Unilever's medical products division (later Unipath) where he set up and managed the Antibody and Reagent Development function. In 1993 Derek left Unipath to set up Bionostics Limited, now Skybio Limited. |

Wes was trained as an organic chemist and entered the diagnostics business in 1978 working with Technia diagnostics as a development chemist. He joined Unilever's medical products division (later Unipath) in 1981 where he was instrumental in the development of a range of immuno-assay techniques. In addition, he managed diverse areas including chemistry, antibody production and health and safety for the Bedford Unipath site. Wes is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. |
| Nicki graduated from Oxford University in 1997 with a first in Biological Sciences. She then went on to Harvard University in the US to do an MSc in Molecular Biology where she did research on the nervous system of fruit flies. She decided not to pursue a career in academia, feeling that the business world was the direction in which she wanted to head. She joined Skybio earlier this year as marketing manager. |
