As an appetiser
before Sunday's international meeting, local riders raced on the
full championship track on Saturday.
Bridgnorth clubmen
had a field-day bagging thirteen trophies in the ten classes before
turning to officiating and marshalling duties the following day.
Gary East set
the ball rolling with overall second in the group one juniors after
an opening race win was followed by a brace of seconds spots and
he was followed in overall third by Andy Broadbridge.
Juniors group
two saw Dave Scott also on the second step of the podium.
Brian Jones
of Broseley soon found his feet again after making a return to racing
after a fifteen-year break. His experience overcame the younger
riders exuberance in the slippery conditions and he took the top
trophy in group three juniors.
A disappointing
sixth position in his middle race saw Andy Preece demoted to the
runner-up spot behind Jones having won the first and last races.

Expert rider
Steve Davies picked up the overall third prize in the 125 category
with Robin Davies (no relation!) going one better to clinch the
overall second prize in the 250 class.
Bridgnorth's
inter-juniors featured in the awards with Chris Mathews taking the
overall third just edging out Lewis Bagnall into fourth by two points.
Top performers
of the day however were Bridgnorth's 750 senior and expert riders
Richard Goodwin and Ashley Jenkins.
Both raced to
victories in all their three races that saw them tie for the BBC
Radio Shropshire Trophy, which they will share for six months each.
Having broken
a bone in his hand the previous week at Cannock, Jenkins was unsure
as to whether he could be competitive but he was uncatchable on
the day and is more optimistic going into the 750 championships
in Sunday's first round.
