Friends of Dollar Museum

Although the Museum is owned and run by a Charitable Trust, the main support it receives is from the Friends. You may become a Friend for a year with a subscription of £10. This should be sent to our Hon. Treasurer at the Museum.

Strawberry Tea

Your subscription will be helping to run a valuable local resource and you will also be invited to various special events, such as previews of exhibitions, during each year. An occasional newsletter - Musenews - is published giving details of forthcoming exhibitions and events.

Recent events have included a visit by HRH Princess Anne, lectures by Lord Wheatley and George Reid, a Flea Market, a Strawberry Tea and outings to New Lanark, the Scottish Parliament and to the Japanese Gardens at Cowden.

Friday 9 October 2009 at 7.30 pm in Dollar Academy Music Auditorium:
The Picturesque Route, an illustrated talk on the History of the Devon Valley Railway by David Bytheway. David is the author of Back on Track and was until recently editor of The Wee County News. He has collected many anecdotes and reminiscences about the sadly-missed line from Alloa to Kinross and will use photographs from his own and Dollar Museum's collections. Easy parking and wheelchair access. Tickets (price £5) are available from committee members, by telephoning 01259 781399 or at the door.

Thursday 22 October 2009: Book Sale in Dollar Museum. The Museum will hold a special sale of second-hand books from 10.30am to 1.00pm and from 2.00 to 3.30pm. A chance to stock up on your winter reading.

During normal Museum opening hours second-hand books are on sale in aid of Museum funds. All donations of lively recent books are welcome.
