I offer a variety of support packages to school all of which can be customised to meet the need of individual schools and teachers.

I work with children and students from Foundation Stage to post 16 and support the goal of quality of learning in classroom across the UK and other parts of the world.

  • I will help you plan all your lesson plans for science from foundations stage 2 to year 6 integrating all your assessment for learning needs, planning for learning and assessment of learning needs. Science network Meetings:

Dates for 2008 - 2009 to be published

If you want to come just ring up or e mail  Vicky Hughes  on 01225 793349 so we can have the right numbers of coffees and teas available. No fee!!

The first of the science network meetings are to be held in June and then a series of meetings will follow throughout the year. The dates and venues are:

All meetings will start about 4:00 pm and last for about and hour. I will give out updated resources at theses meetings and colleagues will have the opportunity to share good practice and talk about what works and what does not work in terms of motivating pupils to learn science.  Please let me know if your teachers are interested in coming to the June meetings as we will have to get the tea ready!

These are some of the issues that will be on our agenda over the coming cycle of meetings:

  • Science K&U of teachers
  • The balance between skills and K&U teaching
  • The teachers own K&U of Sc 1
  • Teaching to a test
  • Over use of worksheets
  • Too much recording, recording for the wrong reason
  • Not enough talking and group work
  • Assessment strategies not in place
  • Assessment strategies in place but having little impact on learning
  • Not enough skills progression from FS 2 to year 6; a lack of awareness of when to teach the skills and when to apply them
  • The more able pupils are sometimes not being challenged sufficiently
  • Use of ICT to promote learning in science
