What a great day we had. Just wait until you see the photographs (they are coming!!). We all need motivating, inspiring and the chance to recognise that what we do as teachers is making a difference to the lives of the children we teach. The aims of the day were:

  • To promote an enthusiastic and positive view of where you are now and where you might be in the future

  • To publicise the LA principles on learning

  • To help you feel these learning principles in practice

  • To inspire you to use some of these learning principles in your classroom

  • To help you link what OFSTED see as outstanding practice with the learning principles ......

but I think we came away with so much more; a reminder that we are in a privileged position and influence the lives of other so much.

Click on download for todays notes and presentation.

These were our agreed rabbits:

  • model how to learn in front of your children (diablos or what ever!)
  • be aware of your use of modal operators (see notes from Jenny)
  • be aware of your use of 4-mat; why, what, how and what if when discussing with your children what they are learning
  • use the word because and encourage your children to use the word because
  • be aware of the treasure you are imparting to your chidlren; what is it you would like them to have by July and what would this look or sound like if Tom or Jenny were to step into your classroom in July?

Keep a few notes of how your chosen 'rabbit' has impacted on your practice and the children's learning. Be prepared to discuss this at our next day at Urchfont.
