Background

Back in May 2001 a group of people came together with the idea of forming a Credit Union for all those that live or work in the Borough of Ellesmere Port & Neston.

Between May 2001 and June 2003 the idea of forming a Credit Union for the Borough was developed. An application was submitted at the beginning of June 2003 to our regulators the Financial Services Authority for authorisation to trade as a Credit Union.

The Credit Union was registered on 16th October 2003 and authorised on 21st October 2003.

Our Vision

The vision of the Ellesmere Port & Neston Credit Union is to provide a self-sustaining, ethical and competitive alternative to mainstream financial services for savers and borrowers, irrespective of financial status, who live or work in the Borough of Ellesmere Port and Neston.

There are currently over 30 volunteers and organisations involved in supporting the running of Ellesmere Port & Neston Credit Union.
