An airport apron is a hazardous working environment. To ensure the safety of all members of the flying school it is a requirement that individuals familiarise themselves with the following requirements.
- High visibility clothing
High visibility clothing should be worn at all times when airside
- Noise
Hearing protection should be worn.
- Apron speed limits
The speed limit for driving on the aprons is 20mph.
- Aircraft no go areas
Except under circumstances where specific safety training has
been provided, no one should at any time approach an aircraft whilst its engines are running. Even when the engines are running down or stopped, the jet intakes or propellers should be avoided at all times.
- FOD
Foreign Object Debris is a general term, which applies to all loose objects that are a danger to the safety and integrity of an aircraft. The basic rules are; do not leave any litter in the aprons and if you see any litter, pick it up.
