Lower Jurassic Fossils from North Yorkshire

Ichthyosaur finds don’t come along too often, well not for me in any case.

Ichthyosaur means fish lizard and were marine reptiles.

1. Three articulated vertebra, really good preservation, you can even see where the muscles attached and with a piece of rib still in place - 2. Ichthyosaur plate containing vertebra, neural arches, partial ribs and partial lower jaw fragment, found by my eldest son - 3. A very weather worn Ichthyosaur tooth, my only tooth find to date - 4. Superb acid prepared node with Ichthyosaur vertebra and Harpoceras exaratum

 1. Ichthyosaur vertebra & attached piece of rib - 5.3cm (L)

 2. Ichthyosaur bone plate - 15cm X 11cm

 3. Ichthyosaur tooth - tooth 5cm (L)

 4. Ichthyosaur vertebra - 7cm diameter  & Harpoceras exaratum
