Stage for the Village

In 2006 two friends bought a stage off e-Bay - it took a year and £10,000 from the Lottery and now the village hall has a proper proscenium arch for the stage and some theatre lighting.

Grants are now being applied for to provide a full sound and lighting system. This has all been achieved by 'Stage for the Village' and a regular feature in the last three years is the village show.

STAGE FOR THE VILLAGE PROJECT UPDATE JUNE 2009

Just to keep everybody informed with the latest VERY exciting stage (no pun intended) of our project!

Having already gained £10,000 from the Lottery Awards For All Fund, last year The Foundation For Sports and the Arts awarded us £12,000. BUT we had to equal that amount to gain this award. HOWEVER as we announced at our highly successful Swing & Quiz fund-raising night (fantastic music and singing provided by the (older!) Foulsham Entertainers, and a brilliant quiz by Jacqui) we have succeeded in this HUGE quest and we now have funding to the sum of £24,000 to provide us with a fully professional sound and lighting system which will be installed in the wonderful Frost Hall in July. This will provide us with the equipment we need to enable each show presented by all the Foulsham Entertainers Group (from the age of 2 years to …? (too polite to mention!). Watch this space for our next events!

We should mention at this point that there are people and businesses who should take their own “bow” and whom without, we could not have achieved this fantastic opportunity.

At this point we have to mention all those people:-

  1. All the local people (residents young and not so young!) of Foulsham, this also includes Foulsham Primary School, Foulsham Youth Club and Foulsham Rainbows and Brownies – we thank you and acknowledge your unwavering support.

  2. BBH Windows & FloraNova,

  3. Frost Hall, Foulsham

  4. S. Addison Home Improvements, G.J. Kirk Installations, Avenue Windows Dereham, Norglaze Ltd., Collier Windows Ltd., Melloglaze, Breckland Windows, Broadland Windows,

  5. Queens Head, Foulsham (Alan & Jenny for “putting up with our impromptu rehearsals!),

  6. Hobbs & Son (Foulsham),

  7. Foulsham Reading Group,

  8. Foulsham Parish Council,

  9. Lottery “Awards For All” funding,

  10. Foulsham Flower Ladies,

  11. T.V. & Theatre Services

  12. Powleys Office Furniture

  13. Aviation Museum, Bure Valley Railway, Fairhaven, Jarrolds, John Lewis, Last Wine Bar, Marriott Sprowston Hotel, Mid Norfolk Railway, Morrisons (Dereham), North Norfolk Railways, Pensthorpe, Priory Maze Sheringham, Thursford Collection, Urban Retreat, Urban Hair, Sheringham Little Theatre, Palmers, Kinnerton, Theatre Royal, Gressenhall, Norwich Museum, Hollywood Cinema, Health & Beauty Spot, Bawdeswell Garden Centre.

We all take a bow to you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

For a village whose population numbers approx 1,000 people we are stunned and SO PROUD!!!

This notice is posted by the four people who had a mad dream and with these people – MADE IT HAPPEN!!!

Jos, Maxine, Mike & David.
