Mental Health Support Team
The Mental Health
Support Team continues to provide its regular Friday morning drop-in at
the Friary. Ann and the team continue to refer a wide number of homeless
people to the service, whose difficulties are complex and often enduring.
The Friary
provides us with an opportunity to engage with those homeless people who
are reluctant or unable, for whatever reason, to engage with city
services.
For those who clearly have mental health
difficulties but are unwilling to engage with services including our own,
the informal nature of the drop-in allows us, alongside the Friary team,
to monitor and informally support an individual, and intervene only when
appropriate. The Friary team offer vital help and support to those people
(large in number) who would perhaps otherwise ‘fall through the net’.
Friary Drop-In continues to offer opportunities for the
most vulnerable and excluded to engage with others, to access support and
treatment services, to build new homes and new lives. It is our sincere
wish that those who fund Friary Drop-In continue to recognise these
opportunities and the positive impact that they have had, not only on the
lives of individuals, but also the wider community.
