Welcome to this website dedicated to the memory of F.W.Reaveley, one of the most prominent and respected local artists of his era. The site has been researched and designed by his grand-daughter and great-grandson as part of broader research into our family history.

His works depicted scenes drawn almost exclusively from his surroundings; the beautiful countryside of Northumberland and the rugged coastline of the North East of England. He was a prolific artist during his lifetime, exhibiting and selling pieces throughout the North East.

  

Family circumstances meant that his son - who inherited a great number of his paintings upon his death - had to part with most of the collection. As others were sold during his lifetime, the family have lost track of the whereabouts of most of his paintings. As little documentation was kept regarding his paintings - either those sold or passed to friends and family - we are now trying to locate as many of these pieces as possible, to create a permanent and comprehensive retrospective of his works on this website as a lasting tribute to F.W.Reaveley.
