Fly now, grieve later. A study published in June 2005 uses academic research to show that of all the things that ordinary people do, flying has the biggest impact on climate change; that aviation is set to become the world’s most polluting industry; and that the rapid growth in air travel is largely due to its worldwide tax-free status. The external costs of air travel – which the government agrees should be paid by the industry – are much higher than previously estimated. Published by the Aviation Environment Federation.
