EYE EXAMINATIONS |
Gardiners Opticians provide a full range of professional ophthalmic services to care for the patients eyesight and to aid in the detection of abnormal eye conditions, (such as glaucoma, cataracts and diabetes), with the prescribing of corrective spectacle lenses and contact lenses to correct their vision as required. The eye examination is tailored to the individual patient’s symptoms and requirements: the results are discussed, so that the final out come best suits the patient’s needs.Routine eye examinations should be carried out every two years, or earlier if the Optometrist recommends so. |
| An eye examination usually takes about 25-30 minutes, in which the patient’s history and symptoms are recorded. Ophthalmoscopy is performed to assess the health of the external and internal eye to screen for eye disease. Lenses are used and subjective questions asked to determine if a spectacle correction is required. |
HOME DOMICILIARY VISITS Gardiners Opticians provide a home visit service within the local area, for the elderly and disabled patients who are unable to be brought into the practice. Many of these patients will qualify for the free NHS eye examination and call out fee. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have provided this service for many years and aim to continue to do so in the future The examination will also include the Glaucoma “puff” test with a Non Contact Tonometer. A range of spectacle frames will be made available to choose from and the most suitable spectacle lens will be advised. Once the lenses have been glazed into the spectacle frame we will deliver them to the patient and make any frame adjustments necessary so that the spectacle frame fits well.
