The founder of Cakes by Melissa; Melissa Young; was originally trained as a textile designer obtaining her degree from the University of Manchester. She then progressed to become a teacher of Art, Design and Food Technology.

Her continued culinary training led to the establishment of Cakes by Melissa. Melissa's artistic background has and continues to inspire many of her original designs, enabling her to create cakes that challenge convention and regularly exceed expectations.
