Registering for Internet Gateway access |

The G2 gateway server on GB7GL allows you to connect to reflector systems. These may be thought of as “Internet repeaters” and can be used to build up conferences or make long distance QSOs. To access a reflector, you need to use the “Your call” memory of your radio to issue linking and unlinking commands. Please make absolutely sure that you are not interfering with someone’s use of the system by listening carefully before sending any commands. GB7GL will normally be linked to MIDSTAR (REF021B) but can be unlinked from there and linked to any of the alternative reflectors that are available. Unlinking To unlink from an existing reflector, set the current text in your call to “ U” (seven spaces followed by a “U” in the eighth character position). If successful the repeater will confirm with a voice announcement. Linking To link to another reflector, set the current text in your call to the reflector name and put an “L” in the eighth character position (eg “REF0005AL”). You should get a confirmation voice announcement from the repeater once you are linked. IMPORTANT: make sure you clear your link commands by setting the test in your call back to “CQCQCQ” to avoid forcing the gateway to attempt to repeat your link command. When you have linked to a gateway, please listen for 2-3 minutes before transmitting. You may not hear a transmission in progress if you connect in the middle. Listening for a while ensures you do not disturb a QSO in progress. A list of reflectors and their usage is available from here. |

Did you know?
You need to leave a 2 second gap at the end of each over to ensure changeover has had time to occur. If you are using a reflector, leave another second or so to allow for international delays through the network |
