Addawav WinIsitSame mpeg DOS tools Quake tools I've written (DOS)

Note: this program now works with NT, and probably other Windows systems.

Download "AddaWav" a windows utility that joins together a list of wave files.

If you have found Addawav useful, you may pay some money (as little as you like) to the author, i.e. me, by using the following button, though you will need a PayPal account.  Paypal allows you to pay people using credit cards, and auction funds.

If you donate $10 or more, I will send Joinwave-lite - a command line version of Addawav (none of the special features of Joinwave, which are described below).

JoinWave, a command line version of Addawav has extra features:

Join Multiple files into new file
Extend or force truncation to certain length
Specify lengths in seconds
Specify music track which autofades in
Specify volume levels on all input files
Specify an overall fade out time
Specify the number of seconds to fade

The main feature of joinwave is that it fades in a single background music track so that the total level remains constant.  The main (speech) channel always has priority, so the music stops abruptly, but fades back in gradually.  Joinwave has no graphical interface (that's what Addawav is!)  but a simple command line format, for example:

JOINWAVE 30,25,28,5 Output.wav music.wav input1.wav 90 input2.wav 80 input3.wav 90

This means join input1, 2 and 3.wav into a single wave called output.wav, enforce it to last 30 seconds, the music to stop at 28 seconds, the whole thing to start fading out at 25 seconds, and fades to take 5 seconds.

The target of the full Joinwave is those doing radio work, wanting to make set pieces in advance, without needing a mixing desk.

JoinWave is not a shareware product, but is priced, as a specialist product, at $40 - contact me for details, Paypal accepted.

Anyhow, back to Addawav....

Here's a snapshot of the dialogue box:-

Addawav takes a number of wave files and joins them into a single file, this is the first file in the list. This is ideal when making MP3's, and you have a number of different wave files that need to be joined together.

Features:
* Add multiple files to the list, easy to use interface *
* Sort list, ideal when wave files have been grabbed as a series of tracks *
* Easily change order of list * * Playback of any wave file *
* Live assessment of hard drive space * * Fast operation *
* Can cancel without changing wave file *

Card Game: RatFink

Beta trial of my new game: RatFink. Click the above to download.

I wrote this over Christmas, based upon a game I was taught a long time ago.  It runs on Windows 98, and above (please tell me if it doesn't work on your system).  It is for a single player against 3 computer opponents, with speech.  Although some card games have elements of luck, this game requires skill - because the game is not about winning the hands so much as predicting how many "tricks" you will get.  A variety of rounds make it splendid fun, and it is simple to use, just click on the cards to play, and on buttons to bid.

RatFink is released as PayPal-shareware - if you like playing this game, you are invited to donate to my PayPal account, by clicking this button:

PayPal allows you to use credit cards, or money earned from other people for Ebay auctions.

The Fun way to check a file is the same as another file:-

Isitsame was around for some years as a DOS program, now it has been turned into a Windows program, for an easier way to select your files. Now you can select files en-masse, and print the results.

WinIsitsame gives you a sentence that is based upon what a file contains, this is more useful than you might immediately think: It means that you can check that you have the same file as someone else, perhaps at the other end of a phone. The fun part is that the sentence produced is somewhat surreal (see the picture above), and hopefully amusing. This makes it easier to remember the sentences, especially when you have a number of files.

If you register the program, which is shareware, you will be emailed the DOS version, which gives the convenience of command-line usage, and batch files.

SortMerge

Get it here

Revised Feb29, fix bug with carriage return and linefeed (long delays when don't have both)

SortMerge is a windows app that sorts lines from multiple files. I wrote it because I needed to do this, and could not find anything that worked sensibly.  The closest one that worked was CMSort, but this had an annoying syntax that didn't seem to allow me to specify that the sort key was the line itself.  I needed to be able to work case insensitively, and to discard duplicates.  Also the facility to exclude very long or very short lines.

So with that in mind, here it is!  It took six seconds on my Pentium IV 2Ghz to sort a million lines, which consisted of a fake email and value (see www.RealisticRandomData.com)  It took about five seconds to sort merge four different dictionary files into one (discarding the duplicates and ignoring the case).

This is is shareware, and if you find it useful you can optionally pay for it by using Paypal, go on you know you want to!

Here are some more programs for download, all written by me. These are all DOS-based and written using assembler.

CD and MPEG Tools

1.FiddleCD - For grabbing an MPEG stream from CD, removing annoying headers and things, to end up with pure MPEG stream.
2.SeeMpeg - to view some details of MPEG packets
3.Makevid - to produce video only stream from MPEG stream, without pack headers or audio packets.
4 Makeaud - to produce audio (MP2's) from MPEG stream, without pack headers or video packets. These can be played by WinAMP!!!!! Program is exceptionally fast.

Quake tools Note: these are now showing their age, I keep them here just in case they

are of use - they are not compatible with Quake 2, 3, or any other Quake 2 clone.

1. UPDBSP. This updates the textures in a BSP file with new ones from a WAD file, creating a new BSP file.
2. BSP2WAD. Lifts all textures from a BSP file to create a WAD file to be used in Quake editing.
3. MERGEWAD. Joins together two texture files of the WAD variety, making a single WAD with no duplications.
3. SUBWAD: Removes textures present in one WAD file from those in another.

Non Quake tools

1. CHOOSE: This program chooses numbers for the British lottery
2. EXTR: Dos program, very very fast, extracts a section from one file, making a new file, ideal for dealing with large audio and video data lumps.
