Wind turbines

Our wind turbines are manufactured by Kestrel of South Africa. A subsidiary of Eveready (yes the battery manufacturer!). Founded in 1999, Kestrel is a South African based company that has been serving the international market for small wind turbines since its inception.

 

Kestrel customers range from large corporate organisations, small to medium size businesses to local authorities, government departments as well as private consumers. In 2006 Kestrel joined Eveready (South Africa) as Eveready Diversified Products in order to better serve its needs and the needs of the Kestrel customer.

 

Kestrel turbines incorporate passive pitch control to control output at high windspeeds. This type of control is normally only found on commercial large scale turbines and ensures that Kestrel turbines can operate safely in areas of high windpeed with a greatly reduced risk of damage. Something that many small turbines cannot.

 

Kestrel currently manufacture 4 turbines:

 

e150 1.5m diameter machine rated at 600w

e220 2.2m diameter machine rated at 800w

e300 3.0m diameter machine rated at 1KW

e400 4.0m diameter machine rated at 3KW
