Wildcats v CE Falkirk Fury
Portobello High School
Wildcats first home game of this season brought a visit from last years Scottish Cup holders Falkirk Fury. First points in this tussle went to Katie McBrierty followed by a 24 second buzzer beating 3 from Jenny Simpson. Wildcats introduced Caitlin Robertson and Jennifer Taylor into the game, stayed in control and finished the first quarter 10 - 3 up. The second quarter was much closer with some of the less experienced Wildcats getting a chance to show what they can do but holding on to go into the halftime break 18 - 11 up. In the third quarter Wildcats lost some of their composure, became impatient in offense and allowed Fury to come back to within three points at one stage. The score at the end of the third quarter was 24 - 20 in Wildcats favour. A few firm words from the coaches before the 4th quarter got Wildcats back on track. Full court pressure from Caitlin, Chloe and Emma forced mistakes from the opposition, a clutch of baskets followed and allowed the Wildcats to celebrate a 40 - 24 victory.
Scorers today - Katie McBrierty 15, Jenny Simpson 11, Chloe Lodge 8, Emma Inkster 4 and Caitlin Robertson 2.
This week’s quote!
"Winning is seeing improvement in yourself"
Wildcats now face the more experienced St Mirren in their next game with an early start this Saturday. So another quote to take into this game -
"Winning isn't everything, but trying to is."

Wildcats v Glasgow City
Eastbank
It was a baptism of fire for the Wildcats who travelled through to face Glasgow City , one of the favourites for this season's league title. The Wildcats made a promising start not allowing Glasgow to score for two minutes - but then the floodgates opened with Glasgow scoring at will. It took some time for the Wildcats to settle thereafter but two successful free throws from Chloe Lodge seemed to calm the nerves a little. Others followed Chloe's lead and found their way to the basketball with Katie McBrierty top scoring on 10 points. Other scorers today were Emma Inkster - 7, Chloe Lodge and Jenny Simpson - 4 and Rebecca Scott -3. Final score was 88 - 28 in Glasgow's favour. The Wildcats now know what to expect in this league and know that they will have to work hard at training if they are going make an impact against Falkirk next week.
Quote for this week -
'Tough times never last, but tough people do!'
