Blessing
I'm not a religious man, but I do find that certain religious doctrines can be absorbed and applied to life without the need to adhere to any particular religion. I guess many people would agree with me, given the tributes from people of all religions to Pope Jean Paul II regarding his recent passing. I recently attended the funeral of my great uncle and at the end of the service sheet was a final blessing. The words appealed to me. I've since discovered that they are part of a traditional Irish blessing.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
