This is a stainless steel tumble mixer for powders which rotates at approx. 10 r.p.m. It was produced earlier this year.
For the motor, we used one rated 2.5 kWatt (3-phase). The power was transmitted via a 1.5 inch wide toothed belt, fitted with a tensioner.
This drum has a full capacity of approx. 860 litres and is equipped with 4 internal stainless steel mixing 'blades'. These take the form of round edge 75mm x 25mm rectangular box-section running horizontally and these facilitate excellent mixing coupled with simplicity in cleaning.
A 2 inch diameter stainless steel shaft runs through the drum and this is welded into reinforced plates, which are in turn welded onto the curved ends of the vessel, thus transferring the torque over a large area. The shaft rotates in heavy-duty flange bearings and is keyed at one end to accept the drive sprocket.
The mixed product is discharged via a stainless steel sliding plate fitted with a locking knob and the tilt of the frame ensures that nearly all of the finished product collects at this point.
The drum is filled via an 18 inch diameter manhole fitted with a gasket and stainless wingnuts.
The whole mixing unit is built to the highest specifications from 304 grade stainless steel, whilst the framework is manufactured from 100mm x 100mm and 100mm x 75mm box section mild steel. All guarding can be provided, although for this particular tumble mixer it was installed by the customer during its final installation.
Because this particular mixer utilised an existing stainless steel vessel which was simply converted into the mixing drum, it was priced at just £4850. A similar vessel to this could be manufactured in 4-6 weeks.
