Small Scale Pasteurisers
By
utilising mass-produced stainless-steel containers, G.N.
Packaging is able to offer a range of high quality batch
pasteurisers at prices well below any comparable alternative.
They are currently available in several capacities, most commonly
50, 75, 100 and 150 litres with all body parts and pipework being
constructed entirely from food-grade stainless steel.
Various options are available to suit the customers exact requirements. For example, the heating system can be one or two heating elements with single or three phase supply: they are usually 3 kW each but other power ratings are possible. Stirrer motors are normally fitted and a rotational speed of approx 90 r.p.m. is considered ideal for most purposes, although other rotational speeds are easily accommodated.
A data logger is provided complete with its recording probe and is calibrated to measure temperatures - for example in the range 0-100ºC, with a recording taken every 30 seconds - but these variables can be tailored to suit your exact requirements. Many hundreds of complete heating cycles can be stored on a single disc.
This is the modern way forward for temperature measurement and is acceptable for all Environmental Health purposes. Hundreds of pasteurisation records can be stored on any computer data storage system and this data can then be retrieved at any time in the future.
The data logger itself is extremely compact and
carries an LCD which is normally set to display the temperature,
accurate to within 1ºC. At the end of each pasteurisation the
data logger is simply unscrewed from the probe, taken to the
computer and placed into the receiving cradle (provided). The
time/temperature data is then downloaded automatically the via a
USB cable where it may be stored for future reference.
The stainless pipework is of standard Dairying
grade, designed for easily dismantling so that cleaning after
operation is simplified. Silicon seals are incorporated between
the joints and the electrical components are all manufactured to
be waterproof and easy to replace.
The whole unit is built to a standard that is
acceptable to E.H.Os for the pasteurisation of milk. However,
there are many other uses for this versatile vat! For example, it
can be used to hold milk at incubation temperatures e.g. 42-44ºC
for yogurt production or to act as a milk cooling vessel by using
chilled water in the jacket. A recently produced example
has been designed for incubating sera and incorporates linked pH
and temperature probes so that the pH readings are temperature
compensated. The vessel can also be used for cheese production or
other dairy produce as well as being an ideal container for
'ripening' milk.
Best of all, prices start at just £3250 ex-works
with manufacture taking around 4 - 6 weeks.
