In a time of constant change, the Golden ball is a corner Victorian local that offers tradition and serves both the young and old. The pub dates originally from the 1880's. It had a glazed brick exterior and was revamped by John Smith's brewery in the 1920's. The pub has maintained the original layout of the public vault or taproom that holds the bar. It also has an intriguing bar side "snug" for those cosier moments! Any recent changes have been mainly cosmetic, apart from the "sports bar" which has the fast disappearing game of bar billiards.
