Andrew Henderson and Deborah Goodwin
are joint
trainers at this excellent dental practice. The practice itself is buzzing with life,
providing a mix of NHS and private treatment. We carry out the full range of NHS Treatments. Whilst most patients are
NHS there is an excellent demand for the cosmetic treatments not
available on the NHS. All the dentists perform intravenous and
inhalation sedation and if you are interested in this, there will be
many opportunities to observe and carry out treatment while patients
are sedated by the trainer. Andrew has an interest in placing osseous implants. In 2009 we installed a decomtamination room as part of our continuing development of the practice.
Cockermouth is situated just outside the Lake
District National Park and evolved at the confluence of the rivers
Derwent and Cocker with the beautiful North Western Fells and Lakes
just three miles away and Buttermere and Honister a short drive or
brisk cycle further away. The town has many up-market pubs, clubs and
restaurants and the Kirkgate Arts and Performance centre is just a
hundred yards away from the practice next to the famous Bitter End pub
and independent microbrewery where the dentists meet every tuesday
lunchtime. The larger local Jenning's Brewery produces the well known
Cock-a-Hoop and Cumberland ales. The practice has a rich group social
programme many evenings a year - usually for a meal out together on any
excuse such as birthdays or exam success or simply that it has
been too long since the last team night out.
There is easy acess
to the M6 at Penrith using the A66 link road through the Lakes past
Keswick and Newcastle is just over an hour and a half driving time via
Carlisle. There are direct trains on the the West Coast Main Line from
Penrith and Carlisle to both London and Glasgow with easy station
parking or an hourly rail-link bus to either station.
As a VDP
you would never be lonely here with six dentists,
Andrew, Deborah, Anna, Hilary, Malcolm, and Emma; six qualified nurses, one training nurse, five
receptionists and our super efficient practice manager Kath and administrator Clare. Deborah
and Andrew are Joint Vocational Trainers this year but you will get
support from all the other dentists and a very experienced fully
qualified DCP Ann who has guided four previous VDPs through their
early nerve-wracking days in general practice. There are four fully
equipped and computerised surgeries with intra oral x-ray in each and
the staff room is a snug meeting place usually full of hilarity at
lunch and coffee times.
