The Rivers South & North Wey - Private Water
After the heavy rain in early 2008 GAC asked the EA to check the South Wey river and was told it was in "fine condition". That has certainly been proved correct in the summer 2008 with good catches being reported. Small chub, dace, brown trout (Up to one & half pounds), River Carp (up to six pounds) and roach up to 1/2 pound fall especially to red maggot and larger chub up to Four pounds, albeit fewer of them, preferring bread flake. Please return the trout as quickly as possible to reduce stress on the fish, holding them in medium flow before release if safe to do so. Perch normally fish well in the deeper holes in autumn. The banks in places are steep and inclined to crumble so please take care when fishing. The stretch of the North Wey has been recently aquired and renovated. It is a pristine Chalk Stream containing plentiful large chub, dace and trout...Ideal for game and coarse fishing especially for beginers. These parts of the rivers are only open to members of Grayshott Angling Club.
