Let's get The Who to number one

Iconic music legends The Who have never had a number 1 single in the UK charts. This seems wrong, somehow, especially considering the general excellence of their back-catalogue. I tried to put this right in 2009, by organising a campaign to get "Baba O'Riley" to the top of the charts via download sales... but it didn't work. I didn't give myself enough time build up a groundswell of downloaders, or get enough national media coverage. And then I unwittingly targeted the same week that the X Factor finalists' charity single was released. Damn. But I'm up for giving it one more go if you are, so...

The song for the 2010 campaign, as chosen by public vote, will be Won't Get Fooled Again - good choice, if I may say. And I'll be targeting the week commencing 23rd August as the sales/downloads week, in honour of Keith Moon's birthday.

For this to work, we'll all need to buy/download the same version of this track, from the same album. The chosen version is track 12 from the 2010 compilation album "The Who - Greatest Hits". For clarity, it is often listed as "Won't Get Fooled Again (Original Album Version)". Don't worry, I'll provide direct links to this track with as many different retailers as I can in the fullness of time.

More details will follow soon, specifically those links to online retailers for you to do your buying. In the meantime, please sign up to the Facebook group, Myspace page and/or Twitter stream and spread the word - we need PEOPLE to make this work! Cheers.

Where to buy... but not until week commencing 23rd August 2010!
