Evening and Sunday Service Improvement
We are happy to announce that, as of Sunday 9th of July, there will be extra early morning journeys on Sundays on service 61 between Prescot and Liverpool. There will be minor changes to the Sunday daytime service too. See our Service News page for more details.
Since the 28th of May 2017 Halton Transport has assumed evening and Sunday operation of services 3D, 20 and 20A in the Runcorn area on behalf of Halton Borough Council. The services link Weston village, Weston Point and Grangeway with Runcorn High Street, Shopping City and the hospital. See the times on our Supported Services page.
Mersey Gateway Traffic Disruption
We apologise for the ongoing punctuality issues resulting from the Mersey Gateway construction works and associated traffic diversions.
Please note that service 61A is being diverted in the Greenway Road area of Runcorn in the late afternoon on Mondays to Fridays, owing to unacceptable congestion and delays. Between Murdishaw and Runcorn High Street, buses are diverting at the end of Moughland Lane via Penn Lane, Picow Farm Road and Runcorn Station (Station Road) and via the reverse route from Runcorn to Murdishaw, i.e. not operating via Greenway Road.
The following services are affected:
From Murdishaw at 15:39, 16:09, 16:44, 17:14, 17:44, 18:14.
From Huyton Bus Station at 15:38, 16:13, 16:43, 17:13
Once again, our apologies for any inconvenience caused by the diversion which will greatly benefit the overall performance of the service.
From Sunday 19th July 2015, in line with other operators in the Merseyside area, we are happy to announce that a major change will apply to fares for young people on bus services in Merseyside. From the above date, reduced fares will be available to all young people up to and including the age of 18.
At the same time in the Liverpool area there will be a reduction in the flat fare for young people from two-thirds to half fare, i.e. from £1.40 to £1.10. This will bring the fare in line with all our other child single fares which remain at half the adult fare.
We recognise that parents and young people find it hard to afford the cost of travel to schools and colleges and for social and leisure purposes. It is hoped that these offers will make bus services in the Merseyside area a more attractive and viable option for young people.
UPDATE 1st September 2015
From this date the My Ticket and young persons' fares offers will apply to the Halton borough area on both Halton Transport and Arriva services. Please note that these conditions do not apply to journeys to, from and within the Warrington area on Halton Transport services 47, 48, 62, 62A and 110.
Halton Transport has entered into a new Quality Partnership on the 29th of March 2015. This is on service 17 between Widnes and St Helens. The Partnership includes Arriva and Merseytravel as well as Halton Borough Council.
The route from Widnes to St Helens is now operated jointly by Halton Transport and Arriva, Monday to Saturday daytime. The evening and Sunday service continues to be provided by HTL on behalf of Merseytravel.
Holders of our popular value-for-money tickets can now benefit from the extra availability on the evening and Sunday authority-supported journeys.
All our current timetables can be downloaded from the site. Our current times are linked on this page which has been simplified and broken down for clarity. From now on our many school and college route times will be on separate pages from our main services. Follow the link to see where we go.
Note that all our school and college services are normal registered services available to everyone. Contact us to check dates of operation if in doubt.
Our single fares are very good value compared with other major operators in the region.
In addition to this we offer a range of daily and weekly tickets which can be bought from the driver on all our services.
Our Saver tickets represent excellent value for money being valid on all our services at all times and on Arriva and HTL buses on services 17 and 17B to St Helens.
From 2nd April 2017 adult tickets are £4.00 daily or £16 weekly
Child tickets are £2.00 daily and £10 weekly
Student tickets are £3.00 daily and £14.00 weekly on production of a valid student card.
Our services now extend from Runcorn and Widnes to Liverpool, Huyton, St Helens and Warrington. Our Day and Weekly Saver Tickets are valid on all our services at all times offering the best value for travellers both within Halton and far beyond. Download our latest map to see how far you can go.
We operate the 200 service linking Runcorn station and old town with the New Town employment areas in conjunction with Halton Borough Council and Sci-Tech Daresbury. The service is altered from the 24th of April 2016. There is a reduction in frequency but an increase in running time which will improve punctuality. Download the new times here.
You can use our Best Value Saver Tickets on this bus and save money.
Service 200 now serves Station Road and Picow Farm Road instead of Greenway Road at Runcorn Station.
Because of our recent expansion and future plans we are looking for experienced drivers.
Applicants must have full PCV driving licence and CPC card. Uniform and benefits are provided and pay is now £9.74 per hour.
