1. What is the Budget Plan?

2. Do you sell Pet Health Insurance?

No. We are not allowed to advise on financial products..

3. Do you sell Pet Accessories?

Yes we do. We can provide most products to order. Contact us for further details, or visit our online shop.

4. Do you sell Petfoods?

Yes. We recommend that you consult us regarding the most suitable foods to meet your pets specific dietary needs. We also sell many brands of pet food at our online store at very competitive prices.

5. What is the best and most effective Flea Treatment to use?

There is a huge variety of flea treatments available on the market, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. We suggest you bring your pet to see us so we can assess and advise you on the best product or combination of products suited to your specific situation.

6. What do I do if I lose my pet?

We strongly recommend that you have a tag or disc, detailing your name address and contact number, on the collar of your cat or dog and that your pet is "Identi-chipped".

In the event of losing your pet: Don't Panic. Telepone us immediately and we will take all relevant details and direct you to the other people you need to contact. Then go and search your local area and anywhere you think your pet may have gone.

7. How do I get a Passport for my pet?

For details of this complex issue please telephone or call in to our surgery and pick up a leaflet and discuss your plans with us. PLEASE NOTE: you will need several months notice to get a "Pet Passport".

Cats:

1. When does my cat need vaccinating?

Your cat should be vaccinated at 9 weeks old. The inital vaccination involves two courses of injections three weeks apart. After this a booster vaccination is required each year. It is however important to discuss details of the vaccinations with us on your first visit when you register your pet with us.

2. How old does my kitten have to be before I can let it outside?

This age varies in different circumstances so please contact us for advice.

3. When can I get my cat Neutered (Spayed / Castrated)?

Male cats can be castrated and females spayed from five and a half months old.

Dogs:

1. When does my puppy need to be vaccinated?

The "Puppy Course" of vaccinations start at eight weeks old. With two weeks between the first and second course of injections. They are not fully protected until two weeks after the final injection. After that a booster injection is required every year.

2. How old does my puppy have to be before it can go for walks outside with other dogs?

Your puppy will be fully protected two weeks after the final vaccination of it's "Puppy Course". It is then safe for you to take it outside and for it to associate with other dogs. This would usually be after about 14 weeks old depending on when the vaccination course is started.

3. How old must my dog be to be neutered (spayed / castrated )?

Your dog can be neutered from six months old. Spaying is recommended for bitches to reduce the risks of contracting mammary cancers and / or serious womb infection.

Other Pets:

1. Do you treat Exotic pets?

Yes we do. It is always helpful, but not essential, for you to notify us before your visit of the type of exotic pet you have and your concerns about its health. Please also ensure that you transport your pet in a safe and secure container suited to your particular type of pet.

2. Can my Rabbit, Rat or other "small furry" pet be Neutered (spayed / castrated )?

In most cases, yes, following a consultation to discuss the pros and cons and the cost.

3. Does my Rabbit, Rat or other "small furry" pet suffer any specific common problems?

All these animals are rodents. Their teeth are continually growing. Usually the teeth are kept short naturally by the normal wear and tear of the animal feeding. Sometimes they can get too long and cause problems. You should regularly check your pets teeth and mouth alignment. If you are worried bring it to us for a check up and to have it's teeth clipped.

4. Do Rabbits need vaccinating?

Probably yes. Come and discuss with us which ones and whether the BUDGET PLAN would be appropriate for you.
