Warhawk
Warhawk is an upcoming remake of the original Warhawk video game originally released on the PlayStation entertainment system. The game is a sci-fi third-person shooter mostly using aircraft, but also independent land-based combat in vehicles and on foot. The game takes place in a persistant, open-ended gamespace similar to a game like Grand Theft Auto.
The game takes advantage of the PlayStation 3 controller's recently announced motion sensing ability to allow you to maneuver the aircraft while flying by moving the controller rather than pressing the buttons (predominantly). The controller's ability to recognize free movement allowing for six degrees of freedom (roll, pitch and yaw) plays into Warhawk's flying mechanics/physics.
The game will have many different playable modes, much like Halo, the popular first-person shooter for the Microsoft Xbox entertainment system. It will allow a player in a flying craft to hover and hop out, then to either run around on the ground or commandeer battle tanks and possibly other vehicles, allowing the player to choose whether to fight the war in the air or on land.
The game engine features procedurally-generated waves on the water, and volumetric clouds which are rendered in software and coded with the hardware-rendered elements from the rest of the scene to create the real-time image.
