Sony's next-gen console may incorporate the forthcoming 2X Blu-ray drive, which will hopefully be available from November.

Originally we were told the PS3 would ship with a 1X drive, which reads at 36Mbps.

But the 2X read speed will be 72Mbps, which would cut load times down dramatically.

However, Blu-ray hope to develop 4X drives by next spring, which may yet make their way into Sony's silver bread bin.
