Marshalling

Marshalling is very simple. find a position around the track that is not already covered by another marshal and assist any cars that turn over or get stuck during the course of the race. When a car needs your assistance PLEASE do not stop onto the track until you have checked that it is clear. Cars can be damaged all to easily by marshals stepping on them! You need to remain aware of the other cars on the track at all times. When assisting a car please place it back on the track, facing the right direction and not in the direct racing line of an approaching car. When you are not assisting a car you should be standing to the side of the track ? not on it and not in the middle islands.

When all racing has finished please help to clear the track, tables and chairs away. It goes much quicker that way and we really do appreciate your help.

Thanks for your help

WHO : The club

Introduction

The Club races indoors on carpet

Most Friday nights throughout the year
We race electric scale model cars, covering 1/10th scale touring cars & buggies & 18th scale buggies,.
The rules on what can be raced are fairly relaxed. for instance, the buggies can be 2 or 4 wheel drive, grown custom made cars.
Although some of the driving can be very competitive, we try to create an atmosphere where the novice driver feels comfortable.

HOW : Racing

Racing at Horsham Radio Control Car Club is open to everyone - members and guests (non-members).
In order to race, you need to check in at race control. Booking in starts at 7:15.

Before racing can start, we have to lay out the carpet and the track. All the equipment is stored in the shed at the back of the hall. Please make an effort to help. The carpet is laid out on the floor and taped down, then a track is laid out using fire hoses filled with sand. The track changes from week to week, depending how creative the volunteers are. A different challenge is posed by the track each week.
Also in the cupboard are tables and chairs which can be used to set up your pit area around the edges of the track.

There are a limited number of electrical sockets in the hall, normally, there will be people with adaptors and extension cables, but you should plan on bringing an extension cable of maybe 5 to 10 feet to be sure of having access to power at your pit table.

After the track layout is complete, there is a short time for practice. Then, we try to start racing at 7:30.
