New world of farriers

In my work as a farrier I had begun to appreciate that the strategies we use to keep a horse still whilst being shod are at best not always appropriate and at worst downright archaic.

Whilst researching less traditional methods I had come across Parreli and initially pretty much dismissed it as another ”mamby pamby” equine fad. Then I met Karren who told me about her work and kept me up to date with her latest training.

Her down to earth approach to life in general made me question the Equine fad part and sparked my interest but the penny still hadn’t quite dropped until I had a problem horse that even a ruffty tuffty farrier like me couldn’t work with.  I was stuck.  Karen came to my rescue and suggested I came to her for a day out.

Watching Karen at work was truly a breath of fresh air and I have to admit made me realise the error of my ways.  She demonstrated calming respectful leadership gaining her trust and respect with the horses.

As an instructor I found Karen direct and to the point.  Keeping things simple her teaching method is easy to understand and follow.  She builds confidence and is a joy to work with.

Long story short, I went away with understanding and confidence.  With time, patience and a little more encouragement from my teacher I worked with the so-called unshoeable horse and gained my very own trust and mutual respect with him.  Since then I have used my newfound techniques on other horses and enjoyed a much more relaxed farriers life but more importantly I think seen a difference in the horses themselves.  I only wish I had done this years ago and would recommend it to anyone. Being one myself I would particularly recommend it to farriers, we work hard enough..

Why not make life easier?
