West High Down & Freshwater
For over two miles massive chalk cliffs of West High Down fall to the waters of the Channel below. Tennyson's Memorial Cross marks their highest undulation, before the chalk spine drops into Freshwater Bay. To the east the cliffs rise again, squeezing the road onto a ledge perched perilously close to the edge.
