Their
country needed them!
In the early days of the Second World War when the Nazi
hordes were sweeping across all Europe, a gallant group
of men swung into action. They were brave, they were resourceful;
they were ready to throw the huns off the beaches. They
were Britain's last line of defence - they were DAD'S ARMY.
This book, by writer John Burke was based on the film adaptation
of Dad's Army. The
novelisation does not follow strictly to the film's script,
but is an excellent read with additional scenes that aren't
featured in the film. For instance, what happened when Wilson
took Mrs Pike for a picnic in Jones' Butchers Van. There
is also an insight into many of the character's backgrounds
including a very enlightening chapter on Joe Walker. All
in all, the book is well worth searching out, and a thoroughly
good read.
