1974 saw the release of yet another version of the Dad's Army theme tune, this time by versatile variety performer Alan Randall.

"Who do you think you are kidding Mr. Hitler" is the opening song on this record of 12 songs performed by Randall in the style of George Formby (an act which he has successfully imitated on television and stage for several decades).

The album consists mainly of famous Second World War Songs, the song was probably included due to Dad's Army's current popularity on television at the time.

The version makes interesting listening, the reasons that Randall gives a unique interpretation with quite an original arrangement (George Formby would have probably given it a similar arrangement, had he still been around to record it!)
