Nine Months after its original release, and still hot on the heels of "Grandad". EMI's budget label, Music For Pleasure, reissued Clive Dunn's "Permission To Speak Sir" LP with new cover artwork and liner notes and the "Grandad Requests..." prefix on the title.

Liner Notes

"If one were to ask "who is the most exciting male singer in the world today?" "He is the one man who can cause women of all ages to instantly fall in love at the sound of his voice, or the animalistic move of his hips?" The name that immediately springs to mind is Jones - That's right...Corporal Jones (the Butcher)...or as he is known out of uniform: Clive Dunn, the youngest old man in the world. Clive in his role as Jonesy on the BBC programme "Dad's Army" has been setting female hearts a flutter for some time.

Now, we are happy to say, he has moved into the pop world with his No.1 smash hit Grandad which was originally a track from this, his first major album. His choice of material I'm sure you'll agree covers a wide range, from the heart-warming plea of permission to sing sir, on through such personalised favourites as I play the spoons and Cleaning my rifle (and dreaming of you), to the nostalgic lyric of How many Christmasses. We feel that each track has an unmistakable quality of its own and is sure to suit every taste. So we invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy the world's newest pop star Corporal Jones (The Butcher) alias, Clive Dunn.
