Former Dad's Army star Ian Lavender, is returning to the small screen as a member of the Eastenders cast, it has been confirmed.

The 55 year old, who played Private Pike in the classic sitcom, will appear in the British Soap from November.

His character will become the focus of attention for Pauline Fowler, played by Wendy Richard.

But much to her chagrin, Lavender's character - who turns up to help stage and panto - turns out to be gay.
