A
groundbreaking theatrical production in the 1950's was
impresario Jack Hylton's presentation of the popular Broadway
musical, Call Me Madam.
Among the cast was Arthur
Lowe, TV fame in Coronation Street and Dad's
Army still many years away, but theatrical recognition
only just arriving.
So was the success of Call Me Madam, it ran for
several months and was later recorded as a long playing
record also featuring Arthur as Senator Brockbank.
The Theatre programme itself, features
much details on who does what in the production, both
on and off stage but no photographs and no biographical
information on any of the participating cast.
However, it is still a worthy item to have if not only
for its luminous yellow cover design and of course gives
credit to Arthur Lowe in one of his most celebrated early
stage roles.
