CLUB ASSEMBLY

On Wednesday 30th April 2003 President Elect Peter Tanner introduced his programme for the next Rotary Year.

International Committee -  Keith Glenny

  • Keith outlined the plans of the International committee, Murder Mystery Evening and the visits with the Hamm Mark Club.

 

Foundation Committee – Kochummen John

 

  •   Kochummen promised to put new life into the near dormant committee in the coming year. Christmas Cards and calendars would soon be available.

  • An Asian evening on the 13th September would raise funds and all Rotarians, Friends and family were welcome

  • Visit to Kasala State Hospital. It was proposed that the funds collected in Kochummen’s year would be used to sponsor a room within the new Karsala State Cancer Centre. A visit was to be planned with the Gillingham Club to view the project in Kasala.

 

Club Service – Alan Cooper for Roy Harvey

  • Membership: This next year would be focused on maintaining the current membership

  • 75th Anniversary of Club: Roy would be forming a sub committee to explore options and organise the event in 2004

  • District Governor Support: Alan urged all fellows to support the DG in the coming Rotary Year. 

  • President Elect Peter Tanner  presented DG Elect with a 100 club banners to be used in his visits to all clubs within district 1130.

 

Alec Everitt introduced Laurie Ford. Laurie with Alec’s help will drive the Community Services committee in the coming year.

  • Asda Collections: It was hoped that the date for the collection could be changed to be closer to Christmas. Asda had at present proposed no collections outside their stores in December and had proposed a date in November.

  • Collection with Round Table: The successful Christmas collection would continue and also participation in the fireworks event. It was hoped that the amount collected would greatly exceed that of last year.

 

Sport and Vocation – Surinder Kalsi

  • 5 a side Football: Surinder highlighted the first competition which will take place in May and hoped that a similar competition will take place in 2003/2004

  • Green Bowls Competition: A competition format was being explored and discussed.

 

Youth – Dennis Bloomfield

  • Kids Out: Dennis announced that there were 1021 children booked into the Barking Park event with 470 carers. The event will be the largest so far.

  • Inner Wheel Concert: This will be organised along the same successful lines as previous years

  • Sports Activities: support will be given to all District Youth events organised and sponsored by Youth Chairman 1130 Roy Harvey.
