DB and the Hurlimann Band

The Albums

That's The Key........The solo album by David

'That's the Key' has received international acclaim. Reviewed in Froots magazine as 'the upper end of the quality scale'
David released the CD in November 1999. Whilst sales have mostly been in the UK and Europe, the CD has been subject to regular airplay in the States and Japan.

With such diverse styles of music on the CD, David searched for musicians he felt would be capable of recreating this live.
Fortunately the band came together very quickly. Bill Johnson was already working live with David, and quite by chance David, whilst watching a band performing in a club, bumped into what was to be the nucleus of the band. He actually had them gigging in the same club within the week!
After one or two personnel changes, the line up has now settled down into the current format.

These mp3 samples are some of the tracks on the CD.

DB And The Hurlimann Band...All I Want

The new CD from the band, released June 2001, contains an eclectic mix of music styles, much like David's solo album, though the overall feel is far more earthier.
Richard Studholme, who engineered and produced the tracks at
The Tone Zone Studio was so taken with the music he was determined to get on the album himself, which he did, by hijacking the {excellent} guitar solo on 'Mary Mary'!

Incidentally, whilst in the studio, David came upon Eric Bibb's resonator guitar. David was so taken with the sound of this instrument, he was determined to have it on the album. Which he did!. Quote "I've got it, I'm gonna use it"
In fact David was that taken with the guitar, before the CD was completed he decided to buy his own.

And where did he go? Nooo, not your local music shop. He actually flew to Chicago, and returned with his very own National Steel Guitar, having tried all the vintage guitars he could lay his hands on. He reasoned that if your gonna buy a blues guitar, where better a place to buy one. Extravagant? Well maybe, but however you look at it, it does make owning such a guitar that extra bit special.
