Welcome to
Hurst Road, Bexley, Kent

Hurst Community Centre is a locally listed building sited in 2.7acres of beautifully maintained grounds in the London Borough of Bexley.
The property is owned and grant aided by Bexley Council
First mention of the house can be traced back to 1681 but the name Hurst Place doesn't occur until 1860 although the ownership of the house is registered to J.Littlewood from 1808-1823, Joseph Watson from 1823-1832, the Watson executors from 1832-1839 and Lord Bexley and the Vansittart Family 1839-1931.
Hurst Place was used as a convalescent home in the 1914-18 war.
In the 1939-45 war its cellars were used as A.R.P headquarters and bomb shelters. The Council purchased the property in 1946 and used it to house bombed-out families and thereafter it became a Community Centre.
Over 100 groups use the centre for various meetings and activities during the week and it is available for Saturday hire for Wedding Receptions and Children Parties
