Formby

Or

How about this?

Just a few miles North of Formby you have Ainsdale

Here you can actually drive onto the beach in your car - park for a picnic and enjoy the lovely sand with all the benefits of being able to store things in your car when not in use and no walking carrying chairs etc

The main part when you drive on has lifeguards during busy times and a dog ban in place, but you can drive along the beach and dogs are allowed.  We took our dog - he loved it >>>

Ainsdale

Just drive down Shore Road from the Town centre
For Sat Nav users a nearby postcode is PR8 2QB
Large toilet facilities by the main beech entrance
£3.50 charge to drive onto the beach (August 2009)
