Formby Hockey Club's first team won the Lancashire Cup on Sunday when they defeated Lytham St.

Annes at Wigan 5-3.

Formby, who had a number of first choice players missing moved the ball round well early on but

Lytham won a penalty corner which they converted. Will Chew equalised following exceellent

approach play.

Lytham regained their lead but then Formby took the game away from them when Simon Fox equalised

with a tip in and David Seddon, who had already hit the bar, converted a penalty corner.

Seddon netted again with a penalty stroke before Fox got his second and his side's fifth. Lytham

pulled one back in the dying minutes as Formby used their bench but the result was never in

doubt.

This was the first trophy to arrive at Cricket Path for a few seasons and the club is looking to

strengthen their squad for next season with a view to gaining promotion to EHL Division One.

Next Sunday Formby play their final EHL home game of the season when Harrogate are the visitors.

Push back is 1pm
