Hockey gets underway at Range High

New hockey teams have been set up at Range High School with the support of

Formby Hockey Club.

Range High pupil Matt Thorpe (17), who plays for Formby Hockey Club, has

helped to launch teams in years 9 and 11 at Range along with teacher Dave

Crojean.

Matt said: "We want to encourage more people to play hockey, so it's great

that we have now got teams playing in year 9 and in year 11. We are also

playing against Merchant Taylors' Boys School teams and against Formby High

who have a year 9 team."

Matt, a third team player at Formby Hockey Club, is helping to develop

hockey in the community as part of the club's outreach programme. The club

wants to improve access to its facilities for local people, while forging

ahead with a major programme of improvements to the pitch, car park,

clubhouse and changing rooms.
