Situated
on
the outskirts of Gillingham in Dorset, on the B3092 towards East Stour,
the Lodden Lakes
fishery is easy to find and has good access.
Open All year round, and not affected by Closed Season Regulations.
The former
clay pits for
local brick manufacture in the mid 1970s, the large basins offer
themselves as an
ideal location with good sizes and depths for a fresh water course
fishery. These have been dredged in recent years to
deepen and accentuate the landscape around the area, and provide an
even better
environment for the fish that thrive here.
The
larger lake is approximately 5.5 acres with between 38 and 40 swims,
the
smaller lake being roughly half this size.
Having recently undergone a major facelift the top end of the complex has a larger car park area, and the whole complex now feels more open and accessible than ever before, with many of the overhanging trees cut back to provide a lighter and more spacious arena for angling. The lakes still retain some of the intimacy at the lower end of the lake, where large trees offer a canopy and high banks still offer secluded angling opportunities.
A wide selection of course fish can be found in the larger lake, situated closest to the road, and Carp, varying in sizes, and up to 25Lb are common in the smaller lake, ensuring a great days fishing for even the hardened enthusiast.
The
Venue also
offers Night Fishing, which has been a great hit with the club members
in the
past, being close to the town, late night facilities are also available.
