Joint Fisheries Annual Charity Challenge - 18th May '08 - Lodden Lakes (41 pegs)
43
anglers fished this annual match at Lodden Lakes in Gillingham and as
usual the competitors found the usually prolific venue in tough form.
Winner on the day was 'Ginger Prince' Andy Power (P.I Thatchers) picking
up £130 and a shield, who drew on the little lake and caught 3 Carp for
30-10 from peg 48. Andy caught one Carp on the teabag and pellet and 2
Carp down the edge on worm over Caster, the biggest going 16lb. Runner-
Up was John Moody (Dorset Raiders) who drew peg 31 on the Dave Hillier
Lake and fished worm and Caster on the pole at 13 metres to catch Tench
and Bream for 20-4.

The match raised £205 for the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance.
June 1st sees the start of the Gillingham And District A.A summer series at Park Lake at Todber Manor. Will anglers wishing to fish book in with Dave Sealy on (01747) 823159. All anglers who fish must be members of the club for the 2008-2009 season.
4th Gillingham A.A Spring Series- Mappowder (14 pegs)
The
latest round of the Gillingham A.A Spring League was fished at Mappowder
on Sunday by 14 anglers and a good percentage of the field achieved
double figure weights. Winner on the day was Tony Creech (Dorset
Raiders) who drew on Spring lake on the entrance to the bay and caught a
few small fish early then caught plenty of small Carp to 4lb on
sweetcorn and pellet to weigh in a very respectable 42-00. Runner -Up
was John Moody (Dorset Raiders) who drew on Pheasant Lake and caught a
9lb Carp, a Bream and some bits on worm and Caster over Groundbait for a
total weight of 15-12.
3rd: Martin Fuller (Gillingham A.A)- 15-9
4th: Jason Mills (Garbolino Blackmore Vale)- 13-10

The
Gillingham A.A Spring League was fished on the Dave Hillier Lake at
Lodden on Sunday by 16 anglers and a good percentage of the field
achieved double figure weights. Winner on the day was Jason Mills (Garbolino
Blackmore Vale) who caught 2 Tench, a small Carp and some skimmers and
Bream for a total weight of 29-00. Jason drew unfancied peg 1 and
caught the majority of his fish at 14.5 metres on Caster over a mix of
Sensas IM5 Betaine Green and Green Gold groundbait. Runner -Up was John
Moody (Dorset Raiders) who drew peg 15 and caught skimmers and Bream on
maggot and Caster over Groundbait for atotal weight of 19-4.

2nd Gilingham A.A Spring Series- Mappowder Lakes (15 pegs)
The second in the Gillingham A.A Spring series took place at Mappowder Lakes this Sunday and there were a few fish caught despite the snow and sleet. Winner on the day was Martin Fuller (Gillingham A.A) who caught 5 Bream on the pole and worm from the monk peg on Pheasant Lake for top weight of 15-2. Second was evergreen Bob Machin (Gillingham A.A) who caught a carp and some bits on the pole from the dam on Pheasant lake for 11-1. Third was Tony Gates with 9-10
1st Gilingham A.A Spring Series- Dave Hillier Lake at Lodden (18 pegs)
The first in the Gillingham A.A Spring series took place at Lodden on Sunday 23rd March in blustery conditions. First on the day was Guy Manton (P.I. Thatchers) who had a very good weight of 32-6 from peg 28. Guy caught all Bream and skimmers on the feeder then on the pole on worm. caster and expandas. Second was Jason Mills (Garbolino B.V.M.G) who drew peg 32 and fished the feeder for 17-12. Third Mark Harper (P.I. Thatchers)- 8-10.
Gillingham A.A Open - 17th Feb '08 - River Stour Tin Shed to Stour Provost (28 pegs)
Competitors faced a low and clear river for Gillingham A.A's Open match
on the River between Stour Provost and Tin Shed and the chub dominated
Tin Shed provided the majority of the weights. Winner Tony West
(Gillingham A.A) drew peg 63 at Tin Shed and caught 9 Chub on the stick
float and maggots to weigh in 14-9. Second placed Mike Hunt (Gillingham
A.A) drew peg 72 at Tin Shed and caught a mixed bag on the stick float
for 10-4.
3rd: Phil Banfield (Gillingham A.A)- 6-3
4th: Adie West (Gillingham A.A)- 4-12
5th: Bob Machin (Gillingham A.A)- 3-8
6th: Jeff Sibley (Sturminster A.A)- 3-3
Gillingham A.A Dave Hillier Memorial Match - 3rd Feb '08 - Upper Stour Open. (32 pegs)
The River
Stour was in reasonable form for the Dave Hillier Memorial Match fished
on the river Stour at Highbridge, Trill and Catholics, though the wind
made the fishing challenging! Gillingham AA Secretary Simon Hebditch (Garbolino
Blackmore Vale) made the most of noted peg 'Big Hole' at Catholics and
fished the pole over groundbait at 11 metres with red maggot and caught
a chub, a Perch, two 1.5lb Roach and some bits for 8-2 to win a trophy
and £110. Andy Hillier (Gillingham A.A) drew the swimming pool at
Catholics and caught 8-0 of Roach to 6oz on the stick float and maggots
to come second.

4th: Jack Stamp (Gillingham A.A)- 7-8
5th: Ken Murchie (Gillingham A.A)- 7-4

Anglers please note that the Environment agency are doing work at Lodden, improving access for the disabled, at the moment and some parts of the lake may be closed. They are installing a disabled friendly path around the Dave Hillier Lake and will be creating some disabled platforms as well.
6th Gillingham A.A Winter Championship. 27th - January '08 - River Stour- Stour Provost to Tin Shed (30 pegs).* NEW - Detailed Results Here - *
The final
Gillingham A.A. Winter Championship saw a very good match on a near
perfect River. John Moody drew the unfancied swimming pool at Catholics
and won the match by catching 15-8 of nearly all Roach on the pole at 5
metres feeding groundbait and fishing maggot on the hook. Second place
was Joe Searle who drew peg 75 at Tin Shed and caught 6 Chub and some
bits on Bread and Maggots to record a weight of 13-8.
3rd: Jack Stamp- 12-10
4th: Jason Mills- 7-00
5th: Martin Fuller- 6-8
6th: Steve Lovell- 6-4
This
meant that the final standings in the winter championship were:
1st: Martin Fuller- 474
2nd: Joe Searle- 471
3rd: Dave Sealy- 470
4th: John Candy- 468
Knockout Winner- Martin Fuller.
The Dave Hillier Memorial Match is on February 3rd. Tickets are £10 with a £5 optional pool book in with Dave on 01747 823159. This match will be fished on the River Stour if possible, with a reserve venue of Lodden Lakes if the River is deemed unfishable.

Gillingham A.A Winter Championship. - 20th January '08 - River Stour-
Deepwater to Rectory Straight (26 pegs)

After 2
weeks of cancelled matches, match secretary Dave Sealy took a gamble and
put this match on an up but dropping River Stour and despite the
conditions there were quite a lot of fish caught. Winner on the day was
Gary Lynch who drew unfancied peg 12 above Rectory Straight and caught
9-7 of mainly Roach on the feeder and maggot. Second was John Candy who
drew Billings Hole at Deepwater and fished the lobworm feeder all day
and caught two 3lb Bream, a hybrid, a Dace and 4 Roach for 8-15.
3rd: Martin Fuller: 7-10
4th: Tony West: 6-13
5th: Mike Trevis: 6-4
6th: Bob Machin: 4-10
The

Gillingham A.A Club Pairs. - 30th December '07- River Stour- Deepwater
to Highbridge. (30 pegs)
Despite
the River being in awful conditions there were still a few fish to be
caught with the majority of the field weighing in. In - form Steve
Lovell drew Billings Hole at Deepwater and mastered the conditions well
by catching 2 Bream and some Roach on the Feeder and red maggot to
record a weight of 10-8. Tim Thick drew peg 11 at Highbridge and fished
the lead and maggots to catch 2 eels and small Roach to weigh in 4-1
and second place.
3rd: Tony Gates- 3-8
4th: Michael Hunt- 3-6
